    I really can't understand why all these Septics that do these videos make it sound so hard or "Strange", of course it's different but it really isn't a problem. Get off the Ferry or Eurostar at Calais and drive on the right. Turning left do a wide sweep to stay on the right, turning left do a tight sweep to stay on the right, keep the white line of you lane on your right and the complete opposite for all you people who normally drive on the wrong side of the road, therein may lead to the answer, you are so use to doing things the wrong way and it is a hard habit to break!

    Went back to the UK a few years after being away for sometime. Hired a car, Complained to my wife the engine sounded loud, then realized I was in a shift model, another time coming out of the restaurant, saw this car coming towards me, in my lane then realized I was on the right not the left

    I’m getting ready to drive in the UK. I’ve been multiple times for work, but I’ve always taken the train north from London and had a colleague close to my hotel who could pick me up and drop me off, and the town where I was staying was quite walkable.

    How different is driving state to state?

    • @MikeYoungeasytravel
      @MikeYoungeasytravel 6 місяців тому

      Since there are 50 States, that would be tough to answer properly. I would say that traveling within regions you see lots of similarities. For example, if you are traveling in the South you really wouldn’t be able to distinguish between States (without the signs at the border). Texas is mostly different, as is South Louisiana. The West is also different. I this answers your question.

    Watching this because I’m an American about to buy a car in New Zealand for the first time and I’m terrified. I’ve only driven here once before and it was so disorienting and yeah, unsettling is a good word for the feeling 😬 I definitely noticed how strange it felt that pretty much everything inside the car was reversed and what’s even weirder is that here the windshield wipers and indicator are also reversed, which apparently isn’t true of cars in the UK (compared to cars in the US).

    I would be terrified driving in the UK, I would forget which side of the street to be on and where and when to yield all the time 😬 I'm not exactly inexperienced when it comes to driving since I have a transport truck/lorry driver's licence as well as the normal one, but I think it would be really difficult to "rewire" my brain for this

    so... 90% of the world are RIGHT handed, and yet two thirds of those people think it's better to have their LEFT hand on the wheel AT ALL TIMES, while the right hand is not doing as much just changing gears lol. I totally get that people wanted to break free from the british, and do things "different", but that is just totally stupid having your best hand not doing as much.. conclusion british are smart and used a tradition from the empire that came before them everyone else follows failed empires like napoleon and hitler lol....

    Just saw your video. Trying to plan a trip to Venice next May. We will only stay in Venice 2 nights. We will be coming from Florence by train. It's 10 of us. Having done the same but in Florida I found it was more the combo of driving on the right hand side and the left of the car which I found most disconcerting to begin with. That and concentrating on where to go and turning off junctions made it hard to get used to even after 2 weeks of driving.
